Happy 4th of July! We are proud to support and give back to our troops. This year, a portion of the net proceeds from our Stars & Stripes Tie-Dye Tee and our Vintage Navy 4th of July Tee will be donated to Homes For Our Troops.
In celebration we'd like to introduce Ray: A U.S. Navy Veteran and an employee at Ivory Ella.
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Detroit, Michigan
Q: When did you serve in The U.S. Navy?
A: 1969-1973; I worked on submarines as a second class torpedoman's mate.
Q: After serving, what brought you to Rhode Island?
A: Well, I met my wife in Connecticut and first we went back to Detroit for 15 years. Then we moved to Rhode Island to be closer to her family and we've been here ever since.
Q: When did you start working at Ivory Ella?
A: November, 2016
Q: How does working part-time for IE fit into your life now?
A: I bet you I'm one of the biggest advertisers for Ivory Ella [laughs]. I try to wear as many t-shirts as I can on the outside and people love them - that's how we usually get to talking. It's just a nice company to work for. We all work really hard here. When it's the busy season I'm on my feet all day and they usually hurt upon going home, but when I wake up the next morning I want to come back to work. It's just that kind of a job. The people that work here are fantastic.
Q: What is one of your favorite things about the job?
A: I love how they give back to kids and the community aside from Save The Elephants.
Q: How does us giving back to Homes For Our Troops resonate with you?
A: In a huge way. Personally, I donate to Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans and to the Rhode Island Food Bank so I am all for giving back; especially to the troops coming home and the troops that are fighting for us right now. I'm glad I'm associated with a company that has the same mind set that I have.
